Our Why

High school English teachers and curriculum directors often struggle to find culturally relevant, academically rigorous content that reflects Black voices and narratives. Without such content, students miss opportunities to connect with literature that represents their experiences, leading to disengagement and a lack of meaningful connection to the material. Additionally, educators often lack the resources and support to effectively incorporate diverse perspectives while maintaining academic standards.

Blk CITRUS bridges this gap by providing culturally relevant, standards-based English curricula that elevate Black voices and foster deeper connections in the classroom. Our ready-to-use lessons empower educators to engage students with impactful Black stories while challenging them academically. We equip teachers with resources that inspire critical thinking, spark meaningful discussions, and promote inclusive learning — transforming the classroom into a space where culture and curriculum connect.
